Journey of Akal Academy

Sant Attar Singh Ji, the founder of this unique institution Akal Academy was committed to modern scientific education that was combined with spirituality. In order to implement his vision, he identified and inspired Sant Teja Singh Ji, the former Principal of Khalsa College, Amritsar (1904-1906) to acquire the most modern scientific education from the West (1906-1913). Sant Teja Singh Ji visited a number of countries including France, England, America, Canada, Germany, Japan, China, Singapore and Africa, to spread the Divine message among those people. He acquired training in teaching education from Columbia University, New York and later got an AM degree from Harvard University, Massachusetts. On his return to India, he started several High Schools and Colleges, and worked as the Principal of many renowned educational institutions.

To fulfil the vision of Sant Attar Singh Ji, Sant Teja Singh Ji discovered Baru Sahib, a serene and picturesque land in the lower Himalayas of Himachal Pradesh, Northern India as it had been the Tapo Bhoomi (place of meditation) since times immemorial, saints and sages having meditated there on the Divine Naam (Sacred Word). Accordingly, he established The Kalgidhar Trust to further the mission of spreading Guru Nanak's message of universal brotherhood by combining spirituality with modern scientific education and laying the foundation of Sant Attar Singh Hari Sadhu Ashram, Baru Sahib in 1956'.

The Kalgidhar Trust established its first school at Baru Sahib in 1986 and has established 129 more branches since then, besides undertaking various other charitable projects in the areas of healthcare, woman empowerment, relief & rehabilitation. Our journey of 30 years has been truly inspiring for us and for everyone who believes in our ethos.

SCHOOL EDUCATION

Our organization which started with 5 students in the year 1987​ today educates more than 60,000 students in the rural areas of north India. We have a success story of establishing and running 1​29​ schools. In its main campus at Baru Sahib, the Trust runs an exclusive IB World School for the Primary Level (new campus) and a full fledged Middle and High School (old campus) affiliated to Cambridge and CBSE, thus catering to a diverse curricula and age groups.

HIGHER EDUCATION

Further taking the mission to another level, the trust has established two ​full-fledged, multi-disciplinary, state of the art ​universities-Eternal University Baru Sahib in Himachal Pardesh and Akal University at Talwandi Sabo District Bathinda, Punjab.

Akal Charitable Hospital

The organisation has established a fully functional AKAL CHARITABLE HOSPITAL at Baru Sahib, Himachal Pradesh in the year 1994​. The hospital provides medical care to the underprivileged patients of the rural areas of this backward Himalayan Region and the basic primary health care to the residents of Baru Sahib campus.Patients from remote and far-flung areas travel to AKAL CHARITABLE HOSPITAL to seek treatment for various ailments

Akal​ De-Addiction and Re-habilitation centre​

The organization today has two de-addiction and rehabilitation centers, one in Baru Sahib and the second in Cheema, Sangrur, Punjab visit website. More than 5000 patients have been treated till date with amazingly low relapse rate.

EMPOWERING WOMEN

In a society where people are indulging in female feticide, our organization lays immense emphasis on educating girl-child. In all its educational institutions, preference is given to the girls. Akal Institute of Rural Women Empowerment (AIRWE) is one such institute that caters to empowering the women in the society. We have special teaching, skill development and vocational training programs especially for girls that make them ready for the world by earning their own living

RELIEF & REHAB CENTRE

The Kalgidhar Trust aims at responding to the challenges of the community by empowering it through community welfare institutes that also includes:

Thus we need Gurukuls which can strengthen the roots of our children, expose them to the spiritual realm, teach them to have respect for values and morals and develop in them the uncanny ability to discern right from wrong We at Akal Academy, Baru Sahib believe in empowering young minds with Value Based Education, alongside exposing them to the best of educational Pedagogy (Worldly Scientific Education), moral and spiritual values. We are also of firm belief that exposing the young minds to a value based education system would surely benefit in soothing the already raging world, bringing in permanent peace and thus creating global citizen.

Board on the ideals of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji the Akal Academy 31bb Padampurs philosophy of education is known for providing a rich heritage, a sound and progressive value Based Education System and spreading integrated education in every nook and corner of country. It is the perfect education which Guru Nanak Dev Ji wanted for the upliftment of the mankind and for establishment of peace throughout the world, it being the massage of the Almighty. The chief motive of our institution is to synthesize the modern knowledge and technology with the principles of Guru Nanak Dev Ji Simple living and High Thinking. This ideology bounds us to create the citizens down to earth with boundless intellectual level.

History:

Akal Academy 31bb Padampur school is one of the most prestigious Schools in Sri Ganganagar District founded in April 2008. It is a Private Institution run by The Kalgidhar Trust in northern India. The school was started with 35 students only and with a triffle staff with the passage of time. After 10 years this tiny plant planted by Baba Iqbal Singh Ji has become a grand tree in which 500+ students are getting value based education from Nursery to class 11th.

Our Culture:

The culture of Akal Academy 31bb Padampur is blend of ancient as well as modern values. There is uniformity in uniform. The day break starts with the Hukamnama Sahib from Darbar Sahib in school premise only. The assembly also includes shabad gayan and Hukamnama Sahib Ji so the whole environment remains pious for the full day. Times to time students are baptized. The holy Guruprabs like the birthday of Guru Nanak Dev Ji , Guru Gobind Singh Ji are celebrated with pomp and sho. In recess the pangat system is followed to acquaint the new generation with the great tradition set by our great Guru Amardas Ji. All the Academic programs and activities of Akal Academy works towards the purpose to help students develop lives of significance for themselves, for other, true to the traditions of the school Motto services before self.

We have made Dreams transfer into thought and are striving to make the thoughts result in action. Towards the commitment and realization of our dreams, we have made the school a breeding ground of innovation. Children carry seeds of creativity in them and the school provides them a climate conducive to to the flowering of their creativity impulse. We integrate a culture of enquiry in them. We give air and water to their imagination. We focus on thinking skills, competence and multimensional work-skills. We inculcate humanity and value education, environment, environmental education and life skills education. We cherish on e-learning, environment armed with technology. We give them new sets of eyes, new vision and the new vision generates the best in energy field. The parents co-operation, trust and faith in the schools philosophy and vision has reinforced my conviction that challenges and responsibilities of fulfilling our commitments are going to be effectively achieved. Objective of the school:
